Selux is seeking an Engineering Director to oversee the creation of new products from concept through to manufacturing, including redesign and value engineering existing products, ensuring that each product meets both customer and industry standards. This role will partner with all departments for process improvement and efficiencies.

 

Monday - Thursday 7:30 am - 5pm; Fridays 7:30 am - 11:30 am

 

Full benefits package including paid time off, 401k match and affordable medical, dental and vision coverage.

 

Salary range:  $125,000 - 150,000/yr

Responsibilities

  • Manage the entire product development lifecycle, including timeline, budget, resources, and deliverables.
  • Lead the design, development and redesign of new and existing lighting products from initial concept to final production, including conceptual design, prototyping, testing, and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with external and internal industrial designers, electrical engineers, and other departments to create innovative lighting solutions.
  • Develop and attain departmental schedules and goals.
  • Drive product cost reduction through design for manufacturability and assembly initiatives.
  • Establish engineering procedures and standards.
  • Work closely with manufacturing team to provide technical support, optimize production processes and ensure consistent product quality.
  • Participate in Custom process including feasibility evaluations and estimating cost for sales group.
  • Develop, maintain and report on departmental budget.
  • As required, direct contact with internal sales, manufacturing, purchasing and suppliers.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (e.g., manufacturing, marketing, procurement) to ensure a smooth transition from development to production.
  • Develop prototypes and oversee rigorous testing to ensure the performance, durability, and reliability of new products.
  • Ensure designs meet regulatory standards, safety requirements, and performance specifications.

Qualifications

  • BS in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or relevant experience. 10+ years product design experience and 5+ years in engineering management.
  • Strong understanding of the product manufacturing process, including custom design, prototyping, testing, and scaling production.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, direct, and inspire an engineering team.​
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage budgets, timelines, and resources effectively.
  • Lighting Experience preferred but not required.
  • Computer skills; Solid Works, AUTOCAD, Microsoft Office and MRP program
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes; milling, drilling, extrusions, casting, sheet metal processing, product assembly, welding and fabricating.
  • Solid foundation in mechanical and electrical design.
  • Familiarity with smart lighting protocols, LED components and hardware
  • Knowledge of global regulatory requirements and industry standards 
  • Proven experience leading successful product launches.
  • Results-driven with a focus on delivering high-quality products on time and within budget.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Adaptable and comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment.
