The Controls Engineer applies engineering knowledge to designs and assists with the development of major engineering projects. This position requires a moderate degree of supervision from the Senior Engineer or Engineering Manager. Any design or technical change decisions require management approval in advance.***Hybrid Remote Options Available!!!


  1. Electrical Design: Responsible for creating electrical schematics, plc program logic, and electrical enclosure designs within the constraints determined by the given project, time, cost, performance.
  2. Project Supervision: Completes an electrical design for a project with supervision. These responsibilities include the following:
    1. Estimating engineering hours required for a project.
    2. Electrical enclosure design and detail.
    3. Electrical schematic design.
    4. Hands-on PLC and HMI programming.
    5. Hands-on Robotic programming desirable.
    6. Knowledge of vision systems is desirable.
    7. Project documentation, including bill of materials.
    8. Project checking.
    9. Manufacturing assembly support.
  3. Checking / Verification: Responsible for ensuring that any of his or her own work is inspected and approved by a qualified engineer or engineering manager.
  4. Documentation: Responsible for the proper documentation of his or her work, including ECR’s, machine manuals, check lists, and others.
  5. Scheduling & Reports: Responsible for reporting the status of his or her project in accordance with Epicor Projects (MPI’s information system) and the engineering production schedule at each weekly meeting. If a problem occurs that requires immediate attention, it is the engineer’s responsibility to report to the department manager at that time.
  6. Other duties as assigned by management.



  1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent, plus 4 to 5 years of related experience.
  2. Sound understanding of electrical design, schematics, and electrical codes in regard to machine tool design.
  3. Sound computer skills, Cad for Schematics is desirable.
  4. Experience with machine tool equipment, electrical design.
  5. Experienced PLC programmer. Omron, AB, and Siemens are desirable.
  6. Experienced HMI programmer. Indusoft is desirable.
  7. Experienced Robotic’s programmer. ABB and Fanuc are desirable.
  8. Proficient using Microsoft Office, Solidworks, and MPI information system “Epicor”
  9. PLC programming experience. Omron, Indusoft experience highly desirable.
  10. Sound communication skills, verbal, written and the ability to listen effectively.
