  • Overview



    The Inventory Control and QA coordinator will be an essential position in implementing, and monitoring procedures to ensure that the proper inventory and quality assurances procedures are implemented. The position will assist management (Operations Manager and Quality Assurance Manager) in the development and implementation of a formal program to audit all areas related to product inventory and product quality for integrity and accuracy. This individual will lead the cycle counts in a program to identify and eliminate any problems found in daily cycle counts. Will assist branch warehouses with their inventory control




    Inventory Control Requirements

    • Implement, and monitor all key functions related to inventory transactions to assure that they are accurate and timely.
    • Coordinate a cycle count program in a perpetual inventory environment.
    • Coordinate the cycle count progress and results to identify necessary recounts and processes to be monitored and provide regular reports on the results.
    • Document inventory discrepancies using all available resources to identify root causes and supply possible solutions.
    • Work with key personnel to effectively implement process improvements to operational procedures in an effort to proactively optimize overall location and item level accuracy and maintain the highest possible productivity levels.
    • Coordinate the efforts of the cycle counts in an effort to identify and correct discrepancies on items at the location level as needed.
    • Will monitor accuracy and cost effectiveness as directed by Purchasing and Operations Management.
    • Special Order product as directed by Purchasing and Operations Management.
    • Expedites the daily flow of all special order material to include receiving, labeling, locating and timely shipping.
    • Troubleshoots all special order problems from time of receipt.
    • Monitors special order returns, provides reporting and ensures quick returns.
    • Ensure that the unit of measure “in” is the same as the unit of measure “out”.


    QA Requirements

    • Assist in Maintaining and controlling QA procedures and work instructions
    • Assist in reviewing QA procedures, work orders, customer PO’s, DWG design drawings and vendor PO’s material test reports
    • Assist in document control and documenting nonconforming products
    • Assist in maintenance of the calibration system (PERFORM OR VERIFY CALIBRATION OF ALL MEASURING & TEST EQUIPMENT)
    • Assist in maintaining the corrective action program
    • Assist in preparation and during audits (NUPIC, VARIOUS CUSTOMERS, INTERNAL, EXTERNAL CRITICAL SUPPLIERS)
    • Assist in the preparation of C of C issuance and processing test reports as required


    INSPECTION Requirements

    • Receiving inspection
      • Machined parts, raw mat'l (alum, ss, a36 etc.), weldments, source insp, (all required a dimensional visual and count insp)
      • Misc parts
        • Ups, verify pn# and count (initiate a heat code list if lot control is required)
      • Document the above inspections and identify all parts and materials (generate nonconformance's if necessary)
    • Documentation inspection
      • Inspect any supporting documentation for the above parts and mat'ls etc.
      • Mat'l certs and c of c ‘s cross check heat #s against packing slip, tags on the mat'l and certs for traceability and verify conformance to applicable codes and specs
    • Inprocess inspection
      • Machined parts (layouts, 1st pc, full run, done prior to welding ass'y, or shipment)
      • Assembly (layouts, compression check, weld insp after sandblasting prior to painting, paint thickness)
      • Welding (layouts, weld prep, check finished size, check weld sizes, flatness, spatter & slag removal, lpt as required document the above in the weld set up record)
    • Final inspection
      • Verify all the above inspections were performed
      • Verify function of the ass'y,
      • Verify all parts are accounted for, ass'y is identified per dwg
      • All testing is complete and acceptable all necessary documentation is with the shipment, certs, instruction manual etc.) Document the final


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Good math skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages
    • Good verbal and written communication skills
    • Good analytical skills
    • Detail oriented
    • Ability to read, write and speak English well
    • PC experience needed to include Microsoft office and excel program knowledge
    • Ability to obtain fork truck license
    • Good driving skills and spatial perception
    • Ability to read a tape measure
    • Good communication skills
    • Ability to work overtime as needed

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Education:     High School diploma or general equivalency diploma and 3-5 years of quality assurance, warehouse and inventory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.


    Other experience:

    • Advanced MS Excel and MS Word experiences
    • Experience with report writing database tools a definite plus
    • An Inspector is required to pass a yearly eye exam and a liquid penetrant cert test every 3 years
