    Stanfordville Machines

     

    Stanfordville Machine is currently accepting applications for a CNC Operator position in Poughkeepsie, NY. The selected individual will operate computer numerical controlled machines to cut, shape, or form metal. They will also work pieces to specifications by performing the following duties.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for all quality aspects of the part being machined.
    • Reviews setup sheets and specifications, machining sequences, and dimensions of finished workpieces. 
    • Enters commands to send reprogrammed machine instructions to the database.
    • Manipulates controls and enters commands to index cutting tools to remove from machine.
    • Observes and listens to machine operations to detect malfunctions such as worn or damaged cutting tools. 
    • Measures workpiece for conformance to specifications.
    • Notifies Supervisor of discrepancies.
    • Machines materials other than metal, such as composites and plastic

     

    Qualifications

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

     

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Technical school certificate or 6 months to 1 year equivalent experience.

     

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
    Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages,

    area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and

    geometry.

     

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in

    written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete

    variables in standardized situations.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The

    employee frequently is required to use his/her hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach

    with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities are required by this job and include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to  adjust focus.
