    MPI Systems is currently accepting applications for a Machinist Tech Senior-Programmer in Poughkeepsie, NY. The selected individual will use Mastercam software, plan setup, and programming operations of the CNC mill and CNC lathe, to fabricate parts or tooling as required to meet manufacturing production schedules or prototype requirements. In the absence of a supervisor, the Senior Tech Programmer will assume the responsibility of the supervisor.

    Responsibilities

    • Follow all Personal Protection Program guidelines.
    • Compliance of all OSHA and MPI Safety Procedures.
    • Read blueprints, drawings, or sketches to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations and tooling requirements.
    • Set (Mastercam software) machine for type of material, tolerances, cutting tools, coolants, lubricants, tool feeds and speed.
    • Program and operate the cnc mill, and cnc lathe, using Mastercam software to produce desired tooling or fabrication of material, without system crashes or damage to machine tooling components.
    • Determine specifications for inspection of work using precision measuring and gauging tools, performing inspection before, during, and after machining.
    • Performs welding of steel fabrications.
    • Inspect incoming material and parts for quality conformance.
    • Work with other departments as needed to resolve any engineering or manufacturing related problems.
    • Operate forklift for material transport, upon completion of MPI training.
    • Operate chain hoists and lift tables, upon completion of MPI training.
    • Perform equipment maintenance as required, assuring all machines run and operate properly.
    • Other duties as assigned by management.

    Qualifications

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each principal duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, experience, skill, and ability required:

    • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, sketches and diagrams.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to speak effectively with employees of organizations including fellow workers, engineering staff and supervisors.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
    • Advanced knowledge and the ability to use and apply trigonometry and geometry concepts.
    • Uses hand tools of the trade safely and properly.
    • Advanced ability and skill level to operate cnc mill, lathe, grinder, and other machines.
    • Advanced knowledge, ability, and experience programming cnc machines with Mastercam software.
    • Good organizational skills with the ability to listen and communicate effectively.
    • Advanced computer skills with experience using Mastercam software.
    • Valid driver’s license; to be verified by MPI’s insurance carrier prior to driving company vehicle.
    • Education / Experience: High School diploma or G.E.D., and 1 Year Technical School with 10 years of experience or 10 years’ experience in a job shop with similar duties.

    • The employee is often required to stand or sit for extended periods of time
    • Occasionally the employee will be required to lift 50 pounds or less to perform normal job functions.
    • Vision requirements for this position include both close and distance vision with the ability to adjust focus.
