The primary role of Information Technology Specialist is to serve as a solutions expert; to analyze and solve computer problems, test and implement cost-effective solutions, and provide support for the efficient daily operation of the data processing system.  This position is responsible for assessing and developing recommendations for all IT related activities of the organization.  This position is accountable for ensuring continuity of IT and other electronic services for users throughout the company, such as computers, software, subscription services, phone system and security system. This position also serves as the first line “help desk” for end-users’ IT-related questions within the company, and is responsible for coordinating with third party support as needed.   



  1. Provide staff and users with assistance solving IT equipment- and software-related problems.
  2. Test, maintain, and monitor computer programs and systems, including the deployment of upgrades and fixes to the network system and end-user equipment, such as computers, printers, and phones.
  3. Interact with outside Network Administrator and other IT contractors to resolve problems, evaluate solutions and implement appropriate IT system solutions.
  4. Serve as the internal system administrator for the ERP system.
  5. Evaluate organizational IT requirements and develop recommendations for upgrades, expansions, repairs and other improvements.
  6. Develop and maintain a proficiency in the company’s main software programs, including its ERP system.
  7. Develop recommendations for process and policy improvements to better align our IT use with the company goals.
  8. Maintain strong knowledge of the latest IT hardware, software and other IT-related solutions.
  9. Responsible for the maintenance of all IT hardware.
  10. Train staff and users to effectively utilize the IT equipment and software.
  11. Other duties as assigned by manager.


  1. Ability to independently manage initiatives and project work with limited supervision.
  2. Effective communication skills, both written and oral
  3. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  4. Strong problem solving skills; communicates in a clear manner.
  5. Clear understanding of PC based network, networking and associated IT infrastructure in a business environment of 50+ users.
  6. Strong understanding of our IT equipment and software, including computers, phone system, ERP system, subscription services and security system.
  7. Ability to forecast time estimates, equipment and personnel needs for projects and programs.
  8. Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field.
